Itinerary
Set off on a five-day journey through Tanzania, encountering the legendary “Pentad of fauna” and magnificent Baobab trees. This classic wilderness adventure includes cozy accommodations and travel in a Land Cruiser with skilled guides.
Explore East Africa’s renowned wildlife sanctuaries—Tarangire, Serengeti, and the Ngorongoro Crater—showcasing incredible wildlife and stunning landscapes. With just seven participants, enjoy an exclusive experience guided by an expert who reveals the secrets of the animal kingdom, diverse plant life, and vibrant Tanzanian cultures.
Day 1 | Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Distance: approx. 150 km; driving time: 2-3 hours. After a brief orientation at dawn, head to Tarangire National Park, known for its vast grasslands dotted with baobab trees and impressive elephant herds. Spot giraffes, buffaloes, lions, zebras, wildebeests, and various antelopes.
Your guide will open the vehicle’s roof for an exceptional wildlife-viewing experience. Enjoy a midday meal in a scenic spot, followed by more exploration in the afternoon. As dusk falls, retreat to the Lake Burunge Tented Lodge, just outside the park, for a restful night in the wilderness.
Day 2 | Tarangire National Park – Serengeti National Park
Distance approx. 280 km; driving time approx. 5-7 hours. After breakfast, your journey to the Rift Valley begins, passing through the lush areas of Mto wa Mbu and Karatu into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Stop briefly for views of the crater before descending to the rugged terrain, with Maasai settlements along the way to Serengeti National Park.
At Naabi Hill, enjoy panoramic views of the Serengeti plains before heading to Seronera, home to the Big Five: lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, and leopards. Arrive at Kati Kati Tented Camp for a peaceful evening in the wilderness, under a starry sky, with meals enjoyed during the day.
Day 3 | Serengeti National Park | Game drives
After breakfast, your entire day will be spent on an extensive safari in Serengeti National Park, with a lunch break in the wilderness. Your visit might coincide with the great migration, where vast numbers of wildebeests, zebras, and Thompson gazelles move from Kenya’s Masai Mara into the Serengeti’s southern plains during the brief rains of October and November.
The return journey occurs after the heavy rains from April to June, though their timing can vary with weather conditions. Your expert guide will help locate these animals, allowing you to witness nature’s drama, as predators are often nearby. The day ends with another night at the Kati Kati Tented Camp. Note: From early January to mid-March, Travelers will stay at Ndutu Kati Kati Tented Camp, which is closer to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and enhances the chance to see the migration.
Day 4 | Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater – Karatu
Distance: approximately 170 km; driving time: 3-5 hours. Your journey begins at dawn after breakfast as you leave the picturesque Seronera Valley and head towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The early hours are ideal for spotting predators.
Enjoy a picnic en route before arriving at the stunning 19-kilometer-wide caldera. Descend into this UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to over 25,000 animals, including the Big Five. After exploring, you’ll exit via a different route towards Karatu, where you’ll spend the evening at a beautiful Tanganyika Wilderness Adventure Lodge in the serene highlands.
Day 5 | Karatu – Arusha
Distance: approx. 160 km; driving time: 2-3 hours. After a leisurely breakfast, you’ll return to Arusha, arriving around midday. Flights are available from Arusha and Kilimanjaro International Airports for those looking to extend their adventure to Zanzibar. A meal will be enjoyed en route.
