Day 1: Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Park
- Begin your day with breakfast before taking a town tour to purchase necessary items, such as sunscreen, insect repellent, or any personal items you may need. A wildlife and cultural expedition follows this. In the Babati district, along the Arusha to Dodoma Road, you will meet the Barbaig (Mang’ati) people, who maintain a hunter-gatherer lifestyle. In the afternoon, pause in the Hanang area to appreciate the varied landscapes. Post-lunch, explore a Man’gati village to understand the historical, social, environmental, and political dynamics of the Man’gati community. Learn about their rich history, social structure and customs, relationship with the environment, and current political issues they face.
Day 2: Bargaig (Man'gati) Experience
- Start with breakfast, then journey with a local guide through the pristine and varied landscapes of Hanang. These landscapes offer splendid views of Tanzania’s geological diversity, and their breathtaking beauty will inspire awe and wonder. Enjoy a morning walk in Hanang to witness the area’s rich biodiversity. After lunch and a brief rest, embark on a guided cultural and historical trek through the region. This may include visits to historical sites, interactions with local communities, or discussions about the region’s cultural heritage. Your day ends with an overnight stay at a local camp, lodge, or hotel.
Day 3: Visit Mto wa Mbu
- Post breakfast, take a brief town tour for last-minute safari necessities before heading to Mto wa Mbu. Here, immerse yourself in the local cultural life and participate in community activities. These are not staged performances but genuine interactions that will leave you feeling genuinely connected to the local community. Continue your journey post-lunch to the stunning Lake Eyasi, where you’ll enjoy an evening walk and overnight at a local camp, lodge, or hotel.
Day 4: Lake Eyasi – Preserving Unique Cultures
- After breakfast, explore the sociological and historical aspects of the Bushmen. This may include discussions about their social structure, traditional roles and responsibilities, or the historical events that have shaped their culture. Traverse various terrains on foot, guided by your knowledgeable companion, who will enhance your journey with their valuable insights. Enjoy a bush lunch with the Bushmen and your guide. Afterward, explore the northern Lake Eyasi, learning about the Bushmen’s history and lifestyle. The day concludes with an overnight stay in the area.
Day 5: Visiting the Hadzabe Villages
- Following your morning meal, you’ll be accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide as you traverse diverse Bushmen villages, each boasting its distinct traits and rich cultural customs. These villages are governed by their leadership yet communally owned by all its members, providing a fascinating insight into their social structure and community life. Post-lunch, spend quality time with the Hadzabe, who still practice a traditional hunting and gathering lifestyle, away from the usual tourist paths. Overnight at a local camp, lodge, or hotel.
Day 6: Hunting Trip
- Your day begins with a hunting lesson with the Bushmen, followed by a practical hunting experience in the bush. You’ll learn about traditional hunting techniques, game tracking, and game preparation preparation using bushcraft.
Day 7: Hunting Trip
- Continue your adventure with the Bushmen guides for a full-day wildlife hunting and honey-gathering expedition. This journey offers a chance to discover traditional hunting methods, track games and prepare for the hunt. Despite the Hadzabe’s meat-eating opportunities, their diet is predominantly vegetarian, centered around honey and fruits. With your guide’s assistance, engage in hunting and prepare a bush barbecue, sharing the meal with the village later. Day 8: Hadzabe Women
- Join Hadzabe women in their search for roots, tubers, and berries. This day offers a deep dive into the uses of various plants, providing a rich cultural learning experience. Day 9: Visit Around the Rift Valley Escarpment
- Bid farewell to the Hadzabe community as you traverse the lowlands to the base of the Rift Valley Escarpment, leading up to the edges of the renowned Serengeti Savannah Plains. Gain profound knowledge about the interplay between humans and local biodiversity, particularly from the dedicated Hadzable women.
Day 10: Arusha
- Travel back to Arusha via the Karatu district through the Ngorongoro Highlands, with a lunch stop at Mto wa Mbu. Enjoy a tranquil sunset at Lake Duluti or Oldonyo Sambu with your final night at a local lodge or hotel.
